Family Hike

A little while ago Patty went online and found a Charlotte hiking group on MeetUp.com.  She joined and signed up for a hike at Lake Norman State Park in Troutman, NC.  That hike was yesterday and Maegan, and I went along too.  (Darah didn’t go with us.) Maegan and I have gone hiking many times [...]

We picked Maegan up at camp yesterday.  It was a three hour trip.  We got there an hour early yet we still only managed to be the fourth car in line.  Before the gates opened the line of cars was literally beyond sight down the mountain road.  While we waited for the gates to open [...]

Camp Photos 3

Here are more photos of Maegan at camp.  This was the week that she went backpacking with llamas.  We pick her up tomorrow.

Camp Photos 2

Maegan is halfway through her two weeks at sleep away camp.  Because they’re between sessions we spoke with her on the phone this morning.   She said she was having fun and had lots of stories to tell us, but she was also very home sick.  Here are a few more photos from her first week [...]

Camp Photos 1

We have several dozen photos of Maegan from camp in just the first few days. Most aren’t very good (she just happens to be in the background of many of them) but here’re four good ones.

Sleepaway Camp

Today we took Maegan to her first time at a sleepaway camp.  She’ll be away for the next two weeks at Camp Pisgah , located 140 miles away in Brevard, North Carolina, near the Pisgah National Forest, which is part of the Blue Ridge Mountains.  This will be the longest time she’s been away from [...]

We finally allowed Maegan to have a Facebook account.  Don’t worry, we’re watching her, I’ve got all her privacy settings set appropriately, and I’m guiding her through privacy and safety concerns.  I’m also schooling her in general Facebook etiquette, which among other things includes “Don’t tag me if I’m not really in the photo” and [...]

Party In The Pit

On Sunday we all attended the wedding vows renewal of Lorena and Carlos.  They held their re-wedding at Carrigan Farms in Mooresville, NC.  Carrigan Farms (or at least this part of it) is an old abandoned granite quarry that has been re-purposed into an outdoor events facility.  Pine trees surround the site.  The area which [...]

I’ve never owned a VHS-C camcorder before but for years I’ve had one VHS-C video tape in my collection.  I don’t remember exactly how I obtained a tape in this format I but the label says “Maegan’s 2nd B-Day”.  This tape should be the earliest video we have of Maegan, but since we never owned [...]

Found Dog

Yesterday a neighbor came by with a chihuahua on a leash.  She said that she found the little dog walking down the street alone with a collar on and dragging a retractable leash behind him.  But she had to leave and didn’t have a fenced backyard to keep the dog safe, so she asked Patty [...]
