Last Wednesday I got a great parking spot in DC, right in front of Amy’s building. I get to pass by and check on my car on my way to the Metro in the morning, and again on my way back from the Metro in the evening. And because it’s at the end of a row, I don’t have to worry much about others bumping into the front of my car as they parallel park with limited skill (the back bumper is still vulnerable).

I have no need to drive anywhere during the week and last weekend I was in North Carolina, so my car hasn’t moved in more than a week. I was going to go off exploring the DC suburbs this weekend but this is such a good spot that I’m actually debating not driving my car this weekend either. I’m going home to Charlotte again the following weekend so if I forgo driving my car just this one weekend, I can keep my great parking spot for 24 days before the next weekend that I stay in DC. But when that next free weekend comes at the end of the month, will I make the same argument again in order to maintain my streak? Maybe I should purposely lose my spot now just to prove that the spot doesn’t control me. Oh such important decisions to ponder.

Update: I did move my car but more importantly, I got two parking tickets. But not for anything related to that parking in that spot. Some idiot NCDOT officer claims that my parking pass was expired even though it says right on the pass that it expires on JULY 31st, 2011. In what world does March 2011 come after July 2011? Yes I’m fighting it.
