On Sunday we all attended the wedding vows renewal of Lorena and Carlos. They held their re-wedding at Carrigan Farms in Mooresville, NC. Carrigan Farms (or at least this part of it) is an old abandoned granite quarry that has been re-purposed into an outdoor events facility. Pine trees surround the site. The area which I assume was where dump trucks used to load up and turn around has been leveled off and filled with fine sugar sand, with more pine trees and sparse large rocks strategically placed for aesthetics. This area and the adjacent shelter have the feel of an exotic beach luau (without the bonfire). The bottom of the quarry has been filled with water and transformed into a swimming hole, complete with floating dock.
Darah was a flower girl, dressed up in a cute bright green and pink fairy/ballerina outfit, as were other toddlers who were there. She walked in front of Lorena and Carlos down the isle and then a friend performed the vows ceremony. Afterward everybody sang (tried to) “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz.
After dancing and food, everybody jumped in the water and went swimming. Not your typical wedding activity. Patty had lost the actual invitations so we didn’t realize that we were supposed to bring bathing suits but that didn’t stop us from jumping in anyway. Even Darah got in the water using a little blowup boat. (Sorry, no video of that part.) It was a ton of fun!
