I’ve never owned a VHS-C camcorder before but for years I’ve had one VHS-C video tape in my collection.  I don’t remember exactly how I obtained a tape in this format I but the label says “Maegan’s 2nd B-Day”.  This tape should be the earliest video we have of Maegan, but since we never owned a VHS-C camcorder, we didn’t own the cassette adapter that allows the smaller VHS-C tapes to be played in a standard VHS deck.  Hence we haven’t seen what’s actually on this tape for almost ten years, if ever.

This week I learned that a coworker has one of those VHS-C cassette adapters and he let me borrow it so I can get the contents of that old tape on to a DVD.  So now I have the earliest video of Maegan in a format that we can actually view, but that’s not all.   On that same tape was some of the only video that exists of my father.  Maegan’s 2nd birthday party in 2000 was the last time I saw my father.  He died less than a month after this video was taken.
