You may be aware of the Supreme Court ruling earlier this year that overturned the decades old limits on the amount of money that corporations could donate to political campaigns. The original limits were designed to prevent large corporations from buying power and influence in Washington. But January’s Supreme Court ruling cited that these regulations were a violation of the First Amendment Rights of corporate entities. What? The Bill of Rights applies to corporations?
The reason I’m writing about this now is because a clever corporation has taken this ruling to it’s next logical conclusion. Murray Hill Incorporated figured that since corporations apparently have all the same rights as people, they should also have the right to run for political office too. So Murray Hill Inc. is currently running for Congress in the state of Maryland. The way they figure it, why not cut out the middle man and let corporations control the government directly. Watch their well made campaign video below.
