This is now my first post on my new WordPress blog. It was way easier to import my old Blogger posts than I thought, but I did have several small but unexpected bumps to smooth out. But all in all very easy. One reason it was so easy was that I originally planned on maintaining all of my old incoming links, but I immediately realized that that wouldn’t matter because I was not just changing my blogging software but my domain too, so it there was no way they could be the same links.
Another plan I had was that it didn’t matter what WordPress design template I used because I eventually planned on customizing it to look like the rest of the site that will one day be on this domain too. I planned to use the same “hand holding light bulb” graphic I use at MikeSussman.com but to make the background red instead. I may still do that but I found this great looking template “Mystique” and I’m really liking the look a lot. In a later post I’ll explain all the hidden goodies in WordPress and in this theme in particular. I may instead keep this Mystique theme and use WordPress as my content management system to display my photos and other personal content too. We’ll see.
P.S. This first WordPress post is also a test to see if my RSS feed will continue to work correctly. If you got this post in Google Reader then everything worked.
