There’s a popular Facebook Application called Gift Creator. What it does is create other Facebook Applications that send gifts to other people, with no programming knowledge necessary. And by gifts I mean just little photos of things, not real-world gifts. People have used Gift Creator to make hundreds of different gift apps, for just about every subject under the sun. So why shouldn’t I create one too?

Last week I created my own Facebook Application using Gift Creator: SUNY Plattsburgh Gifts.

I wasn’t sure if anybody else would be interested in a Facebook application where all you do is just send little photos of SUNY Plattsburgh to your friends – an admittedly niche interest. But it turns out that many people were interested. After just one week, over 400 people have installed my SUNY Plattsburgh Gifts application (mostly alumni I presume) and have sent over 2,000 gifts so far, and counting. Cool.

In case you’re wondering, the most popular gifts (photos) sent are:

Downtown Plattsburgh – 465

Woodstocks & Pizza Bono – 242

Cold Cheese Pizza from Pizza Bono – 206

Trudging to class through the snow – 171

Hawkins Hall – 158

Burghy – 143

I think I’ll make another Facebook gifts app.

  1. I didn’t realize you were the one who created that, Mike. Cool!

  2. Thanks. I got it all started with those PSTV gifts.
